What is better than being his mom? I can not think of anything better. Its who I am, its what I am, and I feel very proud of the title.
For me, I first became his mom when I was 20 years old.
I have learned a lot along the way.
This little boy taught me how to love unconditionally. He taught me how to have patience, how to put someone else’s needs before my own. He taught me to enjoy the little things in life because those are the best things. He taught me how to have fun, let loose, be silly, smile more, and not take life so seriously.
To everyone that knew us, I was known as his mom. At all sporting events and school events, that was who I was. I was so proud when someone would say it too, I would smile and say yep, that’s me.
It was almost as if I was given a purpose. Being “His Mom” was my purpose. Someone to guide me, a reason to wake in the mornings, someone to get me through the toughest days, someone who needed me and loved me too more than anything. It’s crazy how much love and happiness a child can bring.
Nevermind what amazing things I had accomplished during the week, with my career, or my personal life, being his mom was the most important thing and what I had loved most about myself.
Let’s fast forward to today. He is a grown boy now and I could not be more grateful for him. Just by being “His Mom” for the last 17 years, I am now prepared for what is next for me.
Being “His Mom” will always be my #1 title. But now that I have another little boy who is 2 years old, he will benefit greatly from his big brother. I’m excited to say…my title has been upgraded to be”Their Mom”.
